Senator Credits OMB Watch for Advancing Federal Spending Transparency

During a Senate committee hearing on July 18, Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) credited OMB Watch with advancing federal spending transparency (see below to watch a clip from the hearing). In particular, Carper (asking a question on behalf of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)) noted that OMB Watch was instrumental in getting USAspending.gov off the ground. USAspending.gov provides federal spending data on grants and contracts and was initially based on OMB Watch's FedSpending.org platform. OMB Watch's Craig Jennings and other staff have been key in moving the ball forward on federal spending transparency and pushing for continued improvements to sites like USAspending.gov.

Analysis of the hearing is available in the July 24 edition of The Watcher.
