March 24 Argument Scheduled In Citizens United Case

The Supreme Court has scheduled a March 24 oral argument for a case challenging campaign finance rules requiring disclosure of those paying for electioneering communications. The case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC) focuses around Hillary: The Movie a movie produced by Citizens United. The film is highly critical of then presidential nominee, former Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY). The group argues that it should not have to disclose the funders of the film or television ads promoting the film.

It will be interesting to find out how the Court considers this First Amendment challenge, considering Citizens United alleges the film is documentary when there is a perceptible hostility towards Clinton.
