FEC Delays Bundling Explanation and Justification

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has posted a transcript of its Jan. 14, 2009 public hearing on agency procedures and policies. The public comment period has been reopened until Feb. 18. Meanwhile, the new rules requiring disclosure of bundled campaign contributions by lobbyists was once again stalled. The FEC approved new bundling rules at the end of 2008, and an explanation and justification document is necessary in order for the rules to take effect. Hopefully a document will be ready for its Feb. 3 meeting.
