A "Classic Ideological Clash" The Senate is bracing for a possible cloture vote tonight or early tomorrow on the Foreclosure Prevention Act (text). Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has written a letter urging President Bush to reverse his veto threat against the housing stimulus package. "Why don't we let stimulus package one, which seemed like a good idea at the time, have a chance to kick in?" Bush replied today, fueling what the New York Times is calling "a classic ideological clash." Nevertheless, GOP leaders in the Senate are reportedly scheduled to unveil their own version of a housing stimulus bill. Stay tuned.
