A story by Jeanne Cummings in today's Politico on the status of the lobbying and ethics bill now headed for conference includes this sentence: The reform community has all but given up on extending from one year to two the so-called revolving-door component that would bar former lawmakers from lobbying their old colleagues. Ms. Cummings has solid credentials as one of the nation's top political reporters. But she apparenly failed to consult Craig Holman, legislative representative of Public Citizen and founder of the Revolving Door Working Group, who described Cummings' report as "completely inaccurate." Speaking as a principal member of the reform community, Mr. Holman said, regarding the extension of the bill's revolving-door provision, "we're going full-steam ahead."
