NGOs: Knight in Shining Armor or Pickpocket?
by Guest Blogger, 1/25/2005
Is the philanthropic community bracing for a tough year due to alleged lack of accountability, as an article in the Chronicle of Philanthropy states, or are charities the world's most trusted institutions? A recent article by the Financial Times, based on a poll of university graduates in the US and Europe.
Interestingly, according to the article, the trend is most pronounced in the US where trust ratings for NGOs have climbed from 36 per cent in 2001 to 55 per cent, relegating business to second place. Unfortunately, the Senate Finance Committee seems intent on ignoring this information and going ahead with reforms.
