Parsky, who served as an assistant treasury secretary in the Ford administration, and Phil Gramm, a former Republican senator from Texas, are also considered potential replacements for Snow. Deputy HHS Secretary for Health and Human Services Claude A. Allen is considered another possible successor for Tommy Thompson, who announced his departure on Friday. Senator John Breaux of Louisiana and former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich may also be in the running for the position.
