The Obama Administration and Public Protections: A First-Year Regulatory Assessment
OMB Watch invites you to this webcast event.
Date and time: Thursday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time
Location: 2040 S St., NW, Washington, DC 20009 and live on the web!
Panelists: Michael Fitzpatrick, White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (invited); Pam Gilbert, Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca; Peg Seminario, AFL-CIO; Wesley Warren, Natural Resources Defense Council. Moderated by Gary Bass, OMB Watch.
Description: During the Bush administration, the nation suffered a severe blow: crucial public protections went unaddressed or were actively attacked and undermined by political appointees and the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). When President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, many hoped that he and his administration would reverse the dangerous anti-regulatory climate that had pervaded the executive branch for so long.
This panel discussion will address several questions, including whether the Obama administration has thus far lived up to the hopes of public protections advocates; what role OIRA has been playing in the administration; and whether agencies are being proactive on a number of important issues, such as workplace safety, consumer protections, and the environment.
The panel discussion will run for 75 minutes, including time for questions from the in-person and online audiences.
There's still time to RSVP for this event! RSVP deadline: Feb. 4
