Carolyn Steptoe: Executive Assistant to the President and CEO
Carolyn brings key executive leadership experience to CEG. Carolyn worked primarily in private sector industries including legal, academic, political and medical.
Carolyn held diverse capacities in international law firms, worked as supervisor in a teaching hospital, chief-of-staff equivalent in a large university and CEO of her own company, Twilight Legal Services, Inc. In 1992, Carolyn garnered Twilight’s first corporate law firm client: the legal transition team of president-elect Bill Clinton.
Carolyn served 6 years (three terms) as an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) in the District of Columbia. As commissioner, Carolyn represented a 2,000 citizen constituency. She considered a wide range of city policies and programs affecting her neighborhood including traffic, parking, recreation, street improvements, liquor licenses, zoning, economic development, police protection, sanitation and trash collection, and the District's annual budget. Carolyn researched, authored and presented testimonies and recommendations to District government agencies, the Executive Branch and the D.C. Council. Carolyn served as vice-chair of her ANC. She remains proud of her legislative and policy advocacy on behalf of District of Columbia residents. Carolyn is a regular guest speaker and presenter.
Carolyn holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. She is currently completing a doctorate. Carolyn is a licensed minister.
