Rick Trilsch: Director of Finance and Administration

Rick Trilsch is Director of Finance and Administration at the Center for Effective Government and joined the organization in March 2012. Working closely with the Center for Effective Government staff, Rick leads the organization’s financial operations, technology, human resources, administration, and facilities management.

Prior to joining the Center for Effective Government, Rick worked concurrently as Administrative Director for Environment America and U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG), working to preserve the environment and protect consumer rights and the public interest. His work included editing their annual Congressional Scorecards, organizing annual lobby days, and helping to create internal financial systems for their state offices. Prior to moving to DC in 1996, he was the Administrative Director for Florida PIRG. During his time at Florida PIRG, he helped organize dozens of public hearings to protect Florida’s coastline from offshore drilling and edited Florida PIRG’s popular Renter’s Rights Handbook. In the early ‘90s, he was also the cofounder and editor-in-chief of Community News, the largest-circulation LGBT newspaper in Florida at the time. In addition to his current work at the Center for Effective Government, Rick also sits on the boards of the Florida PIRG Education Fund and the National Association of Organizations in the Public Interest.

Rick has a B.A. in History from the University of South Florida, and in addition to his ongoing work on behalf of the public interest vs. special interests, he enjoys walking his dog, finding good restaurants, and following all things pop culture.
